ffmpeg -i 'input.jpg' -frames:v 1 -c:v png 'output.png'

This command converts the input image to PNG. PNG supports transparency; animated inputs are converted using their first frame.

-i

Specifies the input image file.

-frames:v 1

Writes one frame, using the first frame for animated images.

-c:v png

Encodes the image using the lossless PNG codec.
